  • One last point I forgot to mention, and I think this is something to reflect over rather than anything else. In the Nordic countries as I pointed out, the government pays for healthcare via taxes. In the US, the insurance companies pay for healthcare via the insured.

  • I'm glad to see my post didn't cause as much flaming as I had expected. The UK system isn't perfect, the French seem to have it even better than us and so do some of the Nordic countries.

  • Free-markets are a beautiful thing, they've allowed us to live a higher standard of life and given us all the flashy products that you mentioned above. In the UK, our system of "free-market" is some what more centrist than the highly right-wing idealogy that is seen in the U.S.

  • When I see the state of the U.S. healthcare system, I think it is appalling that the wealthiest nation on the planet cannot provide decent standardised healthcare for its citizens. I'm from Britain and we have a "socialist" healthcare system, which in the U.S. has far too many negative connotations.
